WASHINGTON, D.C. and CHICAGO, Ill. (August 31, 2020) – Capitol Seniors Housing, a leading senior living development and investment firm, announces the opening of Atria Highland Park, an assisted living and memory care community in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park. The three-story, 72,000-square-foot community with 86 residential apartments, located at 1000 Central Ave. just west of the city’s downtown, is operated by Atria Senior Living.

“We’re very proud of everyone, especially local leaders, who worked with us to redevelop this beautiful area of Highland Park and bring a best in class senior living community to its residents!” said Scott Stewart, Managing Partner of Capitol Seniors Housing. “Seniors and family members of Atria Highland Park are going to be amazed with this community, which will offer first class amenities and services that seniors demand today.”

Atria Highland Park was designed by Mosely Architects based in Richmond, Va., and interior design firm Studio Six 5 based in Austin, Texas. Beautifully appointed amenities designed to encourage socialization and engagement in activities include living room, library, high-tech theater, art studio, multipurpose room for games and activities, fitness center, and wellness center offering health checkups and monitoring. Dining venues include a restaurant, bistro and private dining room. The memory care neighborhood, offering 22 residential suites, includes a salon. Located on a 2.6-acre site, the community boasts spacious courtyards and a view overlooking the Sunset Valley Golf Course to the rear of the site. Capitol Seniors Housing also created a pedestrian crossing extending into Sunset Woods Park as a public benefit, as well as extending the Deerfield Road sidewalk and improving the Central Avenue sidewalk with landscaping and seating.

The community is operated by Atria Senior Living, a top-tier national senior living operator of more than 200 communities, including four other communities in Chicagoland. Atria’s excellent programming for residents includes its signature events and activities program, Engage Life®, which surveys community residents to develop opportunities for joy, growth and fulfillment tailored to their interests. Atria offers an events calendar filled with opportunities based on eight key dimensions of engagement that contribute to a fulfilling life – from book discussions, gardening clubs, exercise classes to group outings, volunteer opportunities and art workshops. Atria also encourages residents to stay active and involved by leading classes and events related to their expertise and lifelong passions.

“We are excited to serve even more Chicago families with the opening of Atria Highland Park,” said Kevin Ronk, Senior Vice President at Atria Senior Living. “Residents will safely enjoy the quality amenities, programs and service Atria is known for delivering with additional COVID-19 precautions.” Individuals may learn more about Atria’s COVID-19 response measures on their website AtriaSafeTogether.com.

“We are most appreciative of our team, our partners, and area leaders who worked together and who recognized the opportunity to develop the ‘Gateway to Highland Park’ into an amazing senior living community that will serve the needs of a growing older adult population,” said Joe McElwee, Principal – Development, Capitol Seniors Housing. “Overlooking Sunset Valley Golf Club and located just south of Sunset Woods Park, the new community is also near medical facilities, downtown Highland Park shops and restaurants, a post office and many more local amenities. Atria Highland Park is ideal for the senior adults who will live here.”
