The health and safety of our residents and staff will be our Number One priority going forward.”

Designed with a rustic yet modern approach by Meyer, The Chelsea at Greenburgh features natural materials, including stone on the exterior and as interior accents. The community, awaiting LEED certification, was designed with numerous sustainable features including substantial green space that was previously paved in asphalt. The Chelsea at Greenburgh is landscaped with native plants that require less water, and the community boasts a 20 percent water use reduction through water-efficient fixtures, faucets and kitchen equipment. A significant amount of recycled content in construction materials was used, including building steel, metal studs and drywall. Energy efficiencies are achieved through LED lighting, robust control systems, and highly efficient heating and air systems. Additionally, the community is adjacent to public transportation.

The interior, also designed by Meyer, uses materials such as wood, wrought iron, copper and granite throughout the community on light fixtures, countertops and more. The entry area features an impressive high ceiling and signature staircase, helping visitors feel invited and special from the moment they walk inside. Interior colors are a blend of calming blue, gray and earth tones. Artwork includes both modern works as well as vintage photographs that pay homage to Greenburgh’s rich history. The community boasts well-appointed amenities designed to be functional yet able to inspire engagement among residents and staff, such as a bistro featuring an open-concept kitchen area, a club room furnished with comfortable couches and chairs, and a library offering access to computers but balanced with hardcover books and an inviting seating layout. Other amenities include a dining room, art studio, salon, multi-purpose room, sports lounge, club room, theater, fitness/rehab room and a separate dining room in the memory care area. Located on 6.89 acres, the community also offers abundant outdoor spaces including walking paths and garden areas that can also be viewed through the many expansive windows throughout the community. A sidewalk and beautiful landscaping alongside the frontage street also enhance the community.

“We are grateful to the entire Greenburgh community and we are especially thankful to the local officials who had the foresight and commitment to make this project possible,” said Joe McElwee, Principal – Development, Capitol Seniors Housing. “We were all highly motivated to reclaim the property and create something special, both inside and outside.
